By using Retirement South Africa and purchasing any subscription or advertising, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before proceeding.
1. The Parties
These Terms & Conditions constitute a legally binding agreement between:
- Blue Chair Online (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2019/342738/07, a company registered in South Africa, trading as Retirement South Africa ("we", "us", "our"); and
- The individual or entity using this website, purchasing a subscription, or placing an advertisement ("you", "your", "subscriber", "advertiser").
Retirement South Africa operates at retirementsouthafrica.co.za. All invoices, payment requests, and billing correspondence will be issued by Blue Chair Online (Pty) Ltd.
2. Our Services
Retirement South Africa provides an online directory of retirement facilities, villages, frail care centres, assisted living communities, and related properties across South Africa. Our services include:
- Free and paid directory listings for retirement facilities
- Classified advertisements for property for sale or rent within retirement estates
- A facility claiming system allowing verified owners and managers to manage their listings
- An AI-powered assistant to help families navigate retirement options
- Email outreach tools for facility operators
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of our services at any time with reasonable notice.
3. Free Listings
Retirement South Africa may list retirement facilities on the directory without charge, based on publicly available information. These unclaimed listings display basic information only (name, address, contact details).
Free listings are provided at our discretion and may be updated, amended, or removed at any time. We do not guarantee the accuracy of information on unclaimed listings.
Facility owners and managers may claim their free listing by submitting a claim request. Upon verification and approval, the listing will be assigned to the claimant's account.
4. Paid Subscriptions (Venue Listings)
Paid listing plans (Basic and Featured) provide enhanced visibility and additional features beyond the free listing. By purchasing a paid plan, you agree to the following:
- Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected at checkout.
- Your subscription begins on the date of successful payment and runs for the selected period.
- Featured listings receive priority placement in search results and the homepage carousel.
- You are responsible for ensuring all listing content is accurate, current, and not misleading.
- We reserve the right to downgrade or remove listings that violate these terms.

5. Classified Advertisements
Classified ads allow agents and private sellers to advertise properties for sale or rent within retirement estates. By submitting a classified ad, you agree that:
- You are authorised to advertise the property listed.
- All information provided (price, description, photos, contact details) is accurate and truthful.
- Classified ads are subject to review before publication — we reserve the right to reject any submission.
- Ads are published for the duration of the paid period (monthly). Renewal is required to keep the listing active.
- Expired ads are automatically unpublished but not deleted — you may renew at any time.
- We reserve the right to remove any ad that is misleading, fraudulent, or in violation of these terms.
6. Billing & Payment
All fees are charged in South African Rand (ZAR) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.
Payments are processed securely by PayFast. All invoices and billing are issued by Blue Chair Online (Pty) Ltd (Reg. 2019/342738/07). This is the name that will appear on your bank statement, invoice, or payment confirmation.
Current pricing is displayed on our Pricing page. Prices are subject to change — existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before any price increase takes effect.
Failure to complete payment will result in the listing or advertisement not being published or renewed.
7. Cancellation & Refunds
Subscriptions: You may cancel your subscription at any time by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are provided for unused time within a billing cycle.
Annual subscriptions: If you cancel an annual subscription within 7 days of purchase and your listing has not yet been published, you are entitled to a full refund. After 7 days or after publication, no refund is provided.
Classified ads: Classified ad fees are non-refundable once the ad has been reviewed and published. If we reject your submission before publication, a full refund will be issued.
Exceptional circumstances: Refund requests outside of these terms will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at partner@retirementsouthafrica.co.za.
8. Content & Accuracy
You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of content you submit to Retirement South Africa, including facility descriptions, photos, pricing, contact details, and property information.
By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on our website and associated marketing materials for the duration of your subscription.
We reserve the right to edit content for formatting, clarity, or compliance, and to remove content that is inaccurate, misleading, offensive, or in violation of any law.
Retirement South Africa does not verify or endorse the facilities, agents, or properties listed on the directory. Families are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence before making decisions.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Retirement South Africa to:
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
- Advertise facilities or properties you are not authorised to represent
- Scrape, copy, or republish our directory data without written permission
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Send unsolicited communications to other users or facilities listed on the site
- Violate any applicable South African law or regulation
Violation of these rules may result in immediate termination of your account and listing without refund.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on Retirement South Africa that is not submitted by users — including the website design, logo, copy, code, and structure — is the intellectual property of Blue Chair Online (Pty) Ltd and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without written permission.
You retain ownership of content you submit (photos, descriptions, etc.) but grant us the licence described in Section 8 above.
11. Limitation of Liability
Retirement South Africa is a directory and advertising platform. We are not a care provider, property agent, or financial advisor. We do not make representations about the quality, safety, licensing, or suitability of any facility or property listed.
To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Blue Chair Online (Pty) Ltd shall not be liable for:
- Any loss or damage arising from reliance on information displayed on the directory
- The actions, omissions, or conduct of any facility, agent, or advertiser listed
- Any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss arising from use of the website
- Temporary unavailability of the website due to maintenance or technical issues
Our total liability to you in connection with any claim shall not exceed the amount paid by you to us in the 3 months preceding the claim.
12. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account or listing, with or without notice, if we determine that these Terms & Conditions have been violated, or if continued operation poses a risk to other users or the platform.
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except as described in Section 7.
13. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
We encourage resolution of disputes informally first — please contact us at partner@retirementsouthafrica.co.za before pursuing formal action.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify active subscribers by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Continued use of the website or your subscription after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
